Silver? Here's my take.

It's sort of a precious metal and sort of an industrial one. Nobody uses silver coins any more, and the digital photography thing leads people to believe it isn't necessary any more.

It's used industrially for a number of purposes, and more is used than mined. There's a big barrel of it that's been used to fill the demand. One day, the barrel runs dry.
