I am optimistic here. I actually think if they are doing it on purpose it's a good sign, and means they know there is going to be some big upside. To answer your question, 'Why put the tweet out?' well, if they are doing it on purpose, then setting a deadline and subsequently missing that deadline is a sure fire way to piss people off and induce selling.
