#47565 RE: scubastevemd #47564

Steve, I disagree, you cannot use the lack of infrastructure as an argument against the viability of hydrogen in transportation. It may be an argument for you not to consider buying a hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV) right now, except perhaps in California, but that cannot be used as an argument against the viability of the hydrogen technology in transportation.

If the technology is viable, you build the infrastructure to support it. Case in point, battery EVs are considered a viable alternative to Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) vehicles, so we are currently building the infrastructure to support it. Currently in the US, only 2-3% of all vehicles are battery EVs, so there are plans to add 500,000 charging stations to support their expansion. Similarly, if hydrogen FCEV make sense (for example for heavy transportation such as trucks, buses, etc.), you build the infrastructure to support it.
