If you think Treasury/FHFA are scared that some secret documents will come out and they will be embarrassed, you could not be more wrong.
They dont care if anything come out or not. This was just there delay tactics so that the investors will get tired and drop out and many did including many hedge funds.
Moreover any Treasury/FHFA personnel who made the decision are no longer at treasury.
