I'm not trading at all, and I'm nowhere NEAR "even" until we top $100.00 a share....so, I understand the traders aren't making 'squat' right now, but I'm playing the "patience" card on this one.
I debated for a long time about getting into the market at all. When the universe aligned "cash in hand" and a down market when covid first hit us, I took the plunge and bought my first stocks. The 52 week lows were great!
So far, everything ASTI is doing looks legit, even if the traders can't make a profit margin right now, and the product IS in consideration and whatnot for use in space. If ASTI lands a fat contract, all this dirt cheap opportunity for buying is reason to cheer, not bitch and scream....but that's just me.

Aerospace industry is projected to be a MULTI-BILLION dollar industry.
The large established companies with shares in hundreds of dollars are WAY out of my price range. But plenty of new, and smaller players are coming up, and some will actually get their piece of the market, to be sure.
I like ASTI (and my power wave company) because they both have a niche product that touts more flexibility in its capabilities, allowing for more autonomy, and expanded uses of the product.
And if it tanks on the NASDAQ....BUY, BUY, BUY.
I'd MUCH rather gather shares at $3.50 a share, than $35.00 a share for a while. .....Come on fat contract!! I know you're out there. Just need ONE!

If you mean institutional investors, don't count on it. They shy away if there's already a single entity controlling. It's going to have to be all Retail til Bernd decides to divest. Except for a occasional pump & dump, we're stuck here til the company shows signs of profitability, if ever.
