about 17* years ago+- i read about ethanol and what it lacked in power using it in your car. i read the same that it took 1000 gallons of water to produce a gallon of ethanol and four gallons of fuel to produce a gallon of ethanol. now the water was suppose to be able to be reprocessed and used over and over, but, the four gallons of fuel required was not. the surprise to me, was how the ethanol ruined most cars of vintage status that were not able to handle ethanol. fuel lines, gaskets, carbs, all were victims of it's use. all my antique autos had to have surgery. reminded me of when we took all lead out of gas in the 1970s. all the oldies but goodies had to have valve jobs, or add a can of liquid lead to each tank of gasoline that contained ethanol. when finally so many of us voiced anger and concern over ethanol, the straight gas or non ethanol gas began to appear. i use that in all the antiques and have along with dynamo for years. with ethanol came the rising of food prices, as corn was diverted f rom the food industry to energy industry. the btu's we get out of ethanol doesnt hold a candle to gasoline, nor methanol.

*first year of ethanyol use in the usa.
