Certainly their employees may be required to sign an NDA. However, claiming these folks are being paid for such an agreement is absurd. The mention of someone being paid for this is what I have an issue with.
I've been in the IT field my entire life and have been asked to sign my share of NDAs to preserve an industry trade secret or proprietary application specific information. However, not once have I ever been "compensated" for such actions.
