Wow! It's not so much the content of the letter that's remarkable (though it is well-written and covers all the bases), it's the fact that Jobs is personally tackling the issue head-on and in a VERY public fashion.
The timing is also very interesting--obviously the recent rulings out of France/Germany/Norway played a large role, but it's also noteworthy that they waited until AFTER the Apple/Apple Corp. settlement went public to release the DRM letter.
I wonder whether he somehow managed to get the Beatles to not only release their stuff on iTunes, but to do so DRM-free???
Now THAT would be major news, and would launch a major overhaul of the whole industry, methinks!
