I think of you and your daughter. Yesterday I studied a map of your region and the very long Wikipedia entry. Some of my ancestors were likely from Belarus about 170 years ago, tho they never talked about "happy times" in "The Old Country."

Did you ever see "Man with a Movie Camera" from 1929, a silent documentary composed of fairly ordinary scenes from Soviet Kyiv and Odessa. It's considered a masterpiece of its type.
