Actually this is a proven known area... Umiat is one and Willow is the other. Identifying the size and viability of a sub surface geological oil bearing formation is not a wildcat, its an appraisal. Going into the middle of nowhere, kick a few rocks around, look at river beds, smell the air, then drill is a wildcat. The O&G industry has a lot of different definitions and funding etc will depend on what is implied.

North Slope of Alaska is rich in oil...we all know that. Is it below the land that EEENF owns i bet it is. At lease I hope it is. All of the major oil companies including Shell are watching this closely. Let's all hope for some good news here once the drilling starts
