The relationship with Johns Hopkins goes back many years, to the days of Star Scientific, the originators of Anatabloc, another alkaloid molecule, with properties similar to MYMD-1. Intermediate, between Star and MyMD, was Rock Creek Pharmaceuticals.


A guess: Jonnie Williams was the initiator of the relationship with Johns Hopkins, and is the person behind MyMD, invisible but with ownership through a family trust.
