WQLF Says; in 1971 when the WQLF was an itsy bitsy cub, I was into DX’ing. One of my favorite DJ’s was Jackson Armstrong. The station was a 50,000 Watt clear station from Buffalo, NewYork, WKBW (KB Radio) 1520 on the AM Dial. I wrote a letter to Jack in 1971 and in return I received an autograph picture from his wife at the time(Candy). In 2007, I heard Jack on WWKB the same station with a change and mix of the call letters. We talked on the phone and I thanked him and his wife for the photo, I mentioned my interactions with Wolfman Jack and he mentioned that Wolf was taken to the same hospital in Hertford, North Carolina where his father had previously passed away. From Reading his bio, I noticed he got his big break in Radio in Cleveland Ohio, my birth place at a station I was familiar with, WIXZ 1260 in Cleveland ROhioCKS. I also noticed he had previously worked at CHUM 1060 AM in Toronto where my Mentor Terry Steele had worked at in 1972. In 1985, The WQLF presented the City of Buffalo and the Bills the talented Bruce Smith, more than a coincidence YQU Understand. Here are some links to the Most famous MOTORMOUTH who got his nickname the Mouth of The South where he got his break in Radio at WAYS in Charlotte, North Carolina. The first radio station Jack worked at was where my roommate had worked at in Chapel Hill, North Carolina WCHL along with his girlfriend Bambi (Melanie McShane)who later made her way to WRKO AM in Boston.
