They mean Xeon. HP does not have any Itanium 2 server that one would consider 'less expensive', with the one possible exception of the HPTC/Linux cluster. Here is their lineup:
Notice one other thing: They emphasize hp Itanium®, although they do give Intel credit in the fine print on the bottom. So when HP says Intel server they mean Xeon; when they mean Itanium2, they say HP server.
Edit: In their CC, Intel gushed about sales to China. I wonder how many of these were HP Xeon servers? It fits.
