BGFV has been a rollercoaster .... an important risk management tactic when going short, being directly in a stock or by writing naked (uncovered) calls, is to keep your position very small. Also in some cases of risk management one might have to cover part or all of the position at a loss to avoid potentially bigger losses if the stock is climbing like a rocket.

I have not been shorting individual stocks in this bull market for the past 6 months or so .... just too risky. I might start shorting again in the spring.
