Seems strange that such a system would need a high traffic built-in messaging system if no humans at all are involved. Also a " TIMEOUT - LET'S NEGOTIATE THIS TRADE BEFORE IT GOES THROUGH SO NEITHER OF US GET CAUGHT OUT EVER function.
Not to mention people are behind every variation of every algorithm for every day.
Buying can drag the price down nearly as easily as dumping into the bid.. it all depends on how trades are executed over the long term. These people are in full control, and even high quality, real time trading data, isn't enough to see what they are doing any longer.
