I think the key wording is dying of Covid complications, which means the patient had other core morbidities. The thought is Covid tip the patient over the edge.
In fact in one of the recent CDC updates they came clean and said that over 5% (you have to assume less than 6%) of all Covid deaths we're from Covid alone. That's out of over 708,000 reported deaths (death certificates). The other 95% perished with an average of four co- morbidities.
