I am not and never have been a cancer researcher, so I have no experience in this area, but I find it hard to believe that anyone would have the equipment and environment necessary in their house to conduct cancer research. I also find it hard to believe that a doctor who is employed by one research facility would be allowed to conduct research at a different facility.
It seems we have two choices: The research is being conducting at the facility that is most familiar and accessible to Dr. Lee, or it's being conducted somewhere else, outside of Dr. Lee's normal work hours.
Occam's Razor says that the simplest explanation is usually the correct one.
