Nope, to move to a non-hydro-carbon based existence, we would first have to eliminate approximately 7.5 Billion people from the planet. Then the earth would once again be able to support the human race.
Right now there are over 8 billion mouths to feed. We need energy to generated all the food and clothing necessary to feed those people.
