Note that this is a 2002 article, so the license was negotiated in 2001. I don't think either Intel or AMD officially confirmed that x86-64 (as it was then called) was licensed to Intel.
No they didn't but that didn't stop you from confirming it and wondering about the royalties.
Sgolds, I can confirm that AMD64 is licensed to Intel. Next question from all of you is how? Well, I asked that specific question to Hector in the Q&A portion of the shareholders meeting two years ago.
Jerry responded that he would like nothing better than Intel using AMD IP to build a 64 bit chip.
