I have the first aluminum 17" PB. The current one is speed bumped and adds USB 2.0 which just about rounds it out. I love the big screen, but it really doesn't seem to be the boat it once did. It is thin and I have a Brenthaven bag made just for it (it has a pocket where you easily slide in and out the computer. I like the bigger bag anyway because I carry an assortment of cables, disks, and other work stuff with me so the size doesn't bother me one bit.
But, you can easily run into an Apple store and check out both side by side and decide for yourself. I would buy a 19" if they made it. I like the screen real estate so much.
