While the idea of encapsulating that antiviral drug in the COVID-cide is quite interesting, and does seem to be effective (in the model system that the early-released PR describes) NNVC still has a big set of hurdles to overcome before they could deploy it.

1) They still (to public knowledge) have never completed animal toxicity testing for any internal (oral or IV) version of their potential drugs. Until that is done they can't go to a clinical trial of any kind.

2) They would have to actually conduct clinical trials and have some data before even a gun-to-the-head emergency use authorization would be permitted by the FDA.

3) Unless some deep-pockets sponsor or partner (government, NGO or big pharma) pays for it all - there's no way NNVC has the cash to move this forward quickly.
