Yes, that is strange isn't it. I've always wondered how many of these posters on all the boards were really retail working out of their homes as individuals as opposed to organized groups with hidden insider agendas.
I knew back in the late 90s that brokerage employees posted on these chatrooms. I worked for a bank then and we bought a well known brokerage. I knew several of the brokers and they told me they posted but wouldn't say their screen name.
Several times in the early 2000s, I got post card solicitations in the mail and I knew from the way my name was printed that they got my name from my brokerage. Of course my brokerage denied it but it was very obvious they lied.
