Thanks for the link. I did notice the lack of facial features with CodyBaby's current DEMO avatars. Maybe that's were TMMI comes into play to allow real-time facial expressions without slow down or pulses. I imagine an emotional avatar that reacts to your communication with a facial expression would make for a more entertaining session. Speaking to a avatar with a monotone expression would not keep you as visually engaged.

I noted that emotions such as happy, sad, surprise, disgust, anger and also more elaborate expressions such as sympathy, concentration and confusion were used as examples in the link. I did not realize how much thought was required to program an avatar to mimic human behavior. I might of missed it, but did not see mention of how much data is required to perform real-time facial movements.
