Petz -

XP yields will have to be pretty decent to maintain or increase Athlon XP units while increasing Athlon 64 units by 4x to 10x

Can you run the numbers for us and show how this means pretty decent yields?

"AMD sold 7.5-8M CPUs"

With $503,000,000 CPU revenue, AMD's ASPs must have been only $62 to $67. Pretty low, no?
Looks like Opterons abd Athlon64s weren't contributing much.
Maybe the Opteron ramp is a fiction - eh?

"tens of thousands" to "hundreds of thousands" -- I'm assuming 50K to 250K.[/]

Exactly the numbers I have as well.

Petz, essentially correct but not as difficult as that -

XP yields will have to be pretty decent to maintain or increase Athlon XP units while increasing Athlon 64 units by 4x to 10x, as is the plan according to the CC.

Probably most of the XP supply for Q4 is already built and packaged. Add to the usual lead time that AMD had to build a supply for Q4 so that they can be starting 90nm K8s this quarter. I'm sure the XP production was front loaded to make room for the K8 production.

Petz, Re: "tens of thousands" to "hundreds of thousands" -- I'm assuming 50K to 250K.

Looks like Itanium has a chance of outselling Athlon 64 this year. :-)
