ABC/EBAY Television Auctions...
The idea of ABC airing auctions is an interesting concept for interactive TV or enhanced
TV via computer. EBAY has a tremendous following in the United States and Canada.
This could be a ratings winner similar to "Millionaire". The production of such a show would
be relatively inexpensive compared to a "sitcom" or made for TV movie. EBAY get a percentage
of the actual auction and Disney gets advertising revenue from commercials and/or gets to sell
some of its own collectibles (like a marquee sign for $35,000) to a wide audience.
The "Antiques Road Show" is a very popular PBS show with a huge following. That is part of
the audience, the other part of the audience is for people who have collections and are curious
about the values of other collectible items. This concept could give the audience a feeling of
participation personally when something they own or are interested in comes up for auction.
Now if Disney and ABC can get the concept on the air quickly.
