They have already done that. They must have had a reason for it. Personally I think that they didn't have the money to buy out the shareholders in 2015-2016. Or that they didn't want to spend the money. And I'm pretty sure that they wanted to merge with the Shanghai sister in 2017. That probably failed. Then, they invested $142M in art in 2018. I don't know what they have been doing in 2019. In 2020 came Corona.
I think they have been working over a year on whatever it is they are planning to do now. And first they have to spin off the art.
No, you know why they won't go silent? Because they filed a Form 15. Now they are officially dark. And now they are officially liable. Every director. You are a lawyer, so you should know. They probably waited until the last "minute" before filing the Form 15. This was just a couple weeks ahead of the spin-off announcement.
