I think you're viewing others' buying incorrectly. If we all wait until it hits 0.01, it'll be harder to buy. So why not buy on the way down, knowing it'll eventually be much higher than your average? I'd much rather do that than chase the bid on the way up hoping for a deal. When it runs, it runs.
