The pandemic is now in its 18th month and the article indicates that, in spite of a high vaccination rate, Iceland has had 30% of their total COVID infections in the past month. How can this possibly be construed as "vaccines work"?
There are other analyses that suggest COVID infection rates among the vaccinated and unvaccinated are comparable in most countries. In addition, data from Israel (also a country with a high vaccination rate) suggest that vaccine antibodies disappear after 180 days - welcome to chapter 2 of the vaccine story! Vaccines probably make sense for those at highest risk but mass vaccination certainly isn't the solution that we were being sold.
Therapeutics were always a much more important component in fighting COVID. The FDA was in a rush to get vaccines out the door yet seems to be less interested in approving therapies and prophylactics.
