In hindsight, you're right, using the term "launch" in the February PR was a poor choice of words. It was more the initiation of the process of designing the software, getting licenses in many states, and engaging the 13 companies. That of course took time, and it was inevitable that it would be many months before that was accomplished.
Where I beg to differ is the path going forward now. The site is in "beta mode" now, I suspect, only to shake out whatever glitches may still be in the system. So technically it's still beta, but it's a live site, and people can actually buy policies through the Fortman agency.
There's no way that this will take months and months before they expand it to the other states, where they already are approved. I would expect it to transition much more quickly, maybe in a few weeks.
Apparently, they are holding off the formal announcement until they are satisfied that the kinks have been more or less eliminated.
Contrast this to the other company that someone posted a few weeks ago as being competition for RELI, and being the first ones to market a similar service. (I forget the name.)
A friend of mine who is also a RELI shareholder tried that site out, and discovered that they're only licensed in a handful of states (not 47, like RELI), and they have either 2 or 4 companies with whom they're affiliated (unlike RELI that has 13, including some high-profile names). My friend lives in New Jersey, and they don't operate there. So he tried to file from Florida, which did work. At some point he had to use their hotline number, but it wasn't functioning.
So RELI is trying to make sure that when they do actually launch, all systems will be functioning as they should, on a national scale. JMO.
