Jeff, it is getting truly very sad.

Let's go back in time, when I was in high school, and lucky enough to get a darned good high school kid's job as the cub reporter for a small city newspaper in the tobacco region of North Carolina.

Who forget who sent me to interview this high powered corporate attorney who represented the old Carolina Power and Light Corporation, or maybe it was the old the Carolina Telephone and Telegraph, in the delightful small town of Tarboro, just up old US 64 about eighteen miles going east. ''

I have forgotten his name. Time does that to you.

It was during the middle days of the Hippie Era in 1969.

Student protests on the campuses. Kent State. Haight Asbury. Acid rock music.

He was so calm in his demeanor. He was really nice to be so gracious to a simple small town kid. Total gentleman, and all that it implies.

He said something I have always remembered. It applies today.

Folks these days talk more about rights than they do about responsibilities.
