hollywoodhills: I do not believe that EDIG has any current patents pending regarding encryption on the IFE device. After extensive research, I am convinced that the only encryption is provided by DivX.
EDIG management also claimed that they had a "patent pending" on "Write Back" technology, but later admitted that they had not filed any patents for that technology. From my research, I believe that the same situation exists for the IFE device... that there are no patent applications filed by e.Digital for encryption of the content and therefore no "patents pending" as they are now trying to claim.
IMO these false "patent-pending" claims could be cause for future legal action.
