No they are not useless, the data comes from FINRA, you are conflating 2 different things.
The link I provided shows that yesterday near 90% of the volume was MM's selling naked short air shares with only 10% of the shares sold coming from retail.
What you show is more meaningless as MM's skirt the reporting rules by shuffling "air" shares back and forth to each other to avoid reporting the bi-monthly reporting periods. If FINRA wanted to show better data they would provide the short interest reports daily which would prevent a lot of what the MM's due or would be more visible
