MDT is most likely validating that all facets of ENOS can get through FDA before POTENTIALLY either expanding a stake in Titan or acquiring. Remember, Titan does t have the best track record with software (which is the core of a robot) OR hardware.
But you can’t develop an Endoluminal device in a year that would need new micro arms that have different needs, completely different camera systems and sensors, and an entirely different set of software and hardware.
Their is also a possibility that MDT got what IP they wanted to include in their own robots. Sharing some IP such as a camera system or similar with another company is not a deal breaker in complex devices and is done all the time in surgical devices. If this is the case, and there is no enhanced agreement come October, no other players show interest then I think the PPS will suffer greatly as people will know this is a year plus out… Again, and Significant dilution will be coming without a buy out or agreement.
Rocko always overblows the premise that a company can’t compete in the future without the “bundling of robots”. I’ll give you an example. The highest $ makers in an OR is orthopedics. All the big companies have joint, trauma, spine offering yet very few companies have all the business in all three segments And that is without the requirement that robotics half of purchasing $1 to $2 million of robotic capital devices as all the ortho companies can sign the capital instrumentation for all of those devices. Most big hospitals still have multiple total joint companies and spine companies with their products in their hospitals. Having multiple companies actually provides more leverage than using all one company. When you put your basket in one large company, they raise the prices across-the-board and then discount off and inflated list price. With nothing to compare to or compete the hospitals and patients suffer. GPO’s or a perfect example of a lazy man’s poor negotiation platform.
Hoping for the best but there are absolutely no guarantees that this is a done deal. I wouldn’t start in a countdown for retirement in the next three months.
