I once read German pretty well. And spoke it adequately. NOT well. But neglecting German is like erasing a blackboard. At least for me.

I think it'd be interesting to try learning Chinese, because it's completely unrelated to any Western language. Would it be harder, or in some way easier? Would you be less inhibited? Not afraid of, say, mispronouncing French?
