I think they are very important for several reasons.
1) generates more awareness
2) shines the light on new possibilities
3) maybe key for additional funding
4) BP becomes more positive on science leading to possible deal
5) the military conference is intriguing because it opens the door to bio defense, the wider spectrum one viral treats the more the military becomes interested.
6) spawns other labs to do more research

Disagree too on conference shouldn’t be shared or viewed by the public. You got amazing data and you don’t want to share this event with the general public? What are you embarrassed about? Share the conference video.
