To be fair, they got kicked off Nasdaq because of something somewhat minor that he tweeted. Elon Musk tweets something FAR worse for Tesla and nothing happens. I wouldn't doubt that the opposition had connections in places that mattered to make that happen. It was a gross overreaction by the SEC, merely for saying he wanted to see PPS at a certain level while volatility was high.
At this point, yeah they absolutely owe investors a win. I hope they prove my doubt to be able to do that wrong.
All that being said, if you didn't take profit at any point during the massive runs, it's on you for being greedy. Plain and simple. Lesson learned for many. This thing ran from $5 to $100. Always take profit.
