Fred, I lived over there for three years awhile back, so I saw firsthand how things were. Even though I was over there with my family, once my driver was done for the day I saw him parked at the main office of our development, likely reporting in. I'm sure he found us quite boring so we personally never had any issues. Talk about a controlled environment for their people. We were never limited in what we could do, but of course we were respectful as we were the strangers in a foreign land.

I will say this, though. This was the safest place I could have my family in...never once worried as they don't tolerate BS like we do.

I would rather see China avoid financial disaster while dealing with political upheaval. As for their ability to influence USA economy, Chinese, and half the civilized world, can do it with internet hacks or an EMP missile launched from the back of a flatbed truck. Either way the lights go out for years while we dicker with them for transformers.
