A Victory Buoyed By Sponsorships
One crucial element behind the A-Team reaching beach volleyball’s pinnacle in the Olympics was their sponsors. Traditionally, a beach volleyball player faces tremendous financial uncertainty, as earnings on the court are strictly derived from performance on the domestic and international tours. If one wins or make the final rounds of a tournament, they are looking at a five-figure purse for the weekend; however, an early exit might barely cover the cost of a hotel and airfare. This is where sponsorship provides much needed stability for beach volleyball athletes to help cover their living and training expenses.
