I love cognitive dissonance - it's my favorite psychological phenomenon. From what you've said, the results of your thinking move both viewpoints nearer the middle, which would result in your level of confidence in the investment not being as high as it was, and the redness of the flag not being as enormously bright as it might otherwise be. My take is that their failures at communication are largely due to their naivete in dealing with the investing public, and that your investment thesis will play out, but seems to be taking longer than it might to eventuate also due to their lack of finesse with regard to communications.
