Hard to say. . .maybe someone in the know CAN SAY WHAT WILL HAPPEN. . .Batten could decide these FINAL CASES or "hand the ball off" to his replacement. . .by agreement between the two!
There also might be some "regulation" in the system which defines the course to follow; if new judge to make decision, he will get familiar with the 'facts of the case' before ruling on the motion. . .will take more time possibly to get familiar with all his cases in this instance!
