AOL and Time Warner merged (Can't remember if they merged or AOL bought Time Warner or vice versa). Anyhow, after they merged, then they became AOL Time Warner. Soon after Time Warner spun off AOL as a seperate free stock and took the AOL name off the corporate name.
Similar situation but not exact.
Maybe someone can research the above. I am too lazy right now. I research it later.
