I tend to agree.

Recently buying or selling position 5, 10, 20, 30K will be confirmed by an agent before the trade letting the price fluctuate then no trade or magically the broker seems to mid-trade and make a nickel or a dime... Filling orders is difficult on the sell side but also on the buy side. I always place all or nothing orders...

PPHM to da mooon! Oooops! TCLN to da mooon!

CVAC merge with ... then to da moooon!!!!!

Amstro1000, if you get a Prime Broker and an Executive Broker (not the both in one) then you will not have all these problems.

The Prime Broker doesn't do any order execution, he only validates at the end of the day. The executive broker doesn't see the portfolio, he only executes what you tell him within the limits as negotiated with the Prime Broker and clears with the Prime Broker at the end of the day.

Prime Brokers in Canada are, IMO, the best. They also have the best trading rates and they negotiate exceptions. They also do the lending for you if you short overnight.

Executive Brokers that have automated FIX support in the US, preferably located close to the markets (NASDAQ, etc) main computer center are the best match. You can connect many executive brokers to your Prime broker.

Fast software that supports a Fix interface is for sale but some can be expensive. There are also API/SDKs to make your own trading software and automate execution with the FIX protocol.

If you connect a Comstock or other satellite link, then you do not need market data from your executive broker(s) and it doesn't weight on your bandwidth. You'll be fast on the ball too. Many services can even sell you an history pack (e.g. of NASDAQ of the past x years) that you can then maintain with new incoming data and build your own database.
