Physicians Adult Daycare Pursues Expanding Canadian Opportunities
Physicians Adult Daycare (PINKSHEETS: PHYA) announced today that it is adjusting its focus to take into account increasing recognition among Canadian service providers of the need for flexible adult daycare solutions such as the Company provides. Citing a recent January article in the Canadian daily the National Post, Physicians Adult Daycare believes that the Canadian care providers are becoming increasingly attentive to the growing demands of an aging population.
According to the article, "With the growth of the 'sandwich generation' -- middle-aged people taking care of both their children and their parents -- ...employers are looking for solutions to help employees deal with both responsibilities..." Responding to growing pressures, Kids and Company, a national provider of employee child-care benefits, has launched an inaugural program in Calgary in conjunction with five Calgary firms to provide adult daycare services for their employees. Early demand has been exceptional, and according to Victoria Sopik, CEO of Kids and Company, "We've had huge demand...We could have launched with 30 companies instead of just five."
In the words of a company spokesperson for Physicians Adult Daycare, "We have been striving for some time to bring greater awareness to what is already a significant shortcoming in our ability to care properly for our elders. This promises to become an even more serious dilemma as the population ages, and we are gratified to see the beginnings of a growing recognition of the problem. We will be paying close attention to the progress of the initiative in Calgary."
