If you have ever read Ayn Rand's "Atlas Shrugged", its the Static Electricity Power Generator developed by John Gault.

We have not yet reached a level of maturity (Spiritual or otherwise) as a species to harness such a power source. Our current level of technological advancement puts into question our current level of maturity and if we will even survive our own selves.

To harness such a power source would require a unified front directed by fellows with compassion and vision.

The second coming would have to happen first.
