Like, consider Bordynuik's story about having found a lost formula for a catalyst on a magnetic tape from the 1970's that enabled him to convert plastic to oil for total costs of less than $10/bbl.
Everything rests on the truth of that story. But what if Bordyniuk completely made that story up, for the one purpose of convincing naive saps to give him their money. And after he made a few million bucks and got nailed for fraud by two different regulatory agencies in two different countries, he left his scam-props in Heddle's hands and moved on to gummy bears?
So all Heddle has to work with is a pile of scrap iron that never functioned as well as off-the-shelf commercial-grade pyrolysis units because they were slapped together by an amateur con man. And even if they did work, there's no Magic Catalyst that would make them profitable?
