I don't know either but when a heavily shorted stock like MVNT finally gets it's run, the bid and ask swap in L2 and it gets really confusing and hilarious watching the market makers. Looking forward to it for us all.

MM's naked short to "make a market", they make money on the bid ask spread.

This are not retail short sellers or active short selling, it is them just executing retail orders which requires them to go short on a trade.

And as others have said, they don't care about the company, they do not pay attention to pending news or anything, they play based on volume and L3 orders.

Generally speaking MM's assume that retail will not hold an OTC stock and that a stock will eventually crash, when it doesn't that is why you get massive runs on the OTC which this is shapping up to be
