2nd time through the first was easy. The 2nd while having a memory of knowing what else
to look for i saw the froth and bubble but missed the cup which i got right yesterday.

I think it's sorta like as in life, the old saying - Cannot see the forest for the trees

To say the idiom cannot see the forest for the trees means that a person or organization cannot see the big picture because the focus is too much on the details. It would be like someone needing to paint an entire house in one day, but spending half the day on picking out the right color.

A related phrase is the proverbial tree falling in the forest. Proverbial means related to an idiom. The tree this is speaking of is the philosophical question: if a tree falls with no one to hear it does it still make a sound? The idea is that a sound is heard so if there is no one to hear it, does the sound still exist?

Occasionally the phrase proverbial tree will refer to the first idiom, or to another phrase involving a tree. For clear meaning it is best to use the full phrase falling in the forest.

The answer is not that difficult if one would stop looking at the proverbial tree, but stand away and look at the forest instead. [The Hill .. http://thehill.com/blogs/congress-blog/foreign-policy/228944-local-geopolitical-rivalries-and-the-puzzle-of-isiss-gains ]

One small personal example which just happened, which probably happens to all of us: I'm working on a larger post, then decided to start replies to messages in mail (in order of receiving them, as usual). So i have two Post A Re... open. At first, in inserting the first two links to the above, after copying from grammerist, i clicked on the tab for the longer post i'm working on. By mistake. It took effort from then to click on the tab for this reply without repeating that mistake. I didn't repeat the mistake after making it twice, but on copying the 3rd and later links, each time it took concentrated focus not to go back to the longer post i had been working on.

Now back to the longer post or i'll never get it done.

PS: LOLOL After checking out the two players (of six) of my team this week who (thanks boys) survived the cut in the Wells Fargo at Quail Hollow .. https://www.pgatour.com/competition/2021/wells-fargo-championship/leaderboard.html . Points lost after a two-legged weekend are very tough to claw back over the rest of this segment of our very tough little Diehard tourney. But, what the hell, it's spice to life. Some of the fun spice of my life. You guys have your very exciting photography trips. lol
