After I looked at it from another angle, I can see it is a can of WD-40, used to lube the hood hinge. The guy had an overwhelming amount of stuff. My son in law came away with a huge old hand crank rotary coffee grinder that must have been in a store, 1880's vintage, book value of about $500, but he gave it to him for free. We were there as he wanted me to identify some of his Native American artifacts since I can date and attribute them to tribal groups pretty accurately for west coast cultures. He tried to give me a Fairbanks (pre Fairbanks-Morse) cast iron and brass scale, but I gave him twenty bucks to make him happy. (second pic) Scales are still desirable as decor items, but this one will measure rocks.
