my fave theory here is "Kips Bay surely knows something and are just in early!" Why isn't Big Pharma "in early"? They could surely engage in formal due diligence with the company on all aspect of Brilacidin and their covid program. That brings the second greatest theory here, "leo is rejecting offers left and right to create greater shareholder value because he knows the trial will rock the world..." Yeah, good one. Lastly, keep in mind: Brilacidin will have to literally "rock the trial" so well for it to go anywhere. There are 100s of therapeutics in development around the world at this time in Phase 1, 2 and 3. Brilacidin will have to deliver a signfificantly meaningfuly outcome, not just an "oh, hey, there's nothing working so obviously governments around the world and pharmas will throw hundreds of millions at Brilacidin." that's kool aid thinking, e.g. this is the most perfectly amazing drug in the world, etc. if that were the case, wouldn't big pharma have already bought the rights to Oral Mucositis, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, ABSSSI, and...COVID. Be realistic: we wait for the outcome of this trial to see if the results are good enough for Leo and His Gang of Bandits to convert that into big bucks. If they can't, expect a PR saying something like "In other news, the working dilligently to find a pathway forward for Brilacidin Covid including applying for grants, etc." Speaking of wonder drug, why hasn't IPIX secured a single grant in 13 months for Brilacidin covid? bueller? bueller? bueller? Oh, it must be something to do with retaining value and not wanting to dilute messaging or something like that.
