One of the reasons is most companies use Fed Ex or UPS for deliveries. My company uses Fed Ex and I can print a shipping label take it up to the Fed Ex store near me ask for an envelope and hand them the label. They have it down to a science.

AMZN decided to get into the shipping business to carve out Fed Ex, UPS and USPS.

If you look at a chart of Fed Ex it dropped like a rock when AMZN came out with that.

But then the Feds came in and awarded contracts to Fed Ex and UPS for shipping vaccines.

So now AMZN is trying to double down on the logistics side thinking they can crack the market that Fed Ex and UPS has.

Amazon is spending big to take on UPS and FedEx

KEY POINTS
Amazon is investing heavily in adding more warehouses and growing its fleet of airplanes, trucks and vans.
The company revealed in its first-quarter earnings on Thursday that its capital expenditures grew a whopping 80% over the trailing twelve months.
The investments are part of Amazon’s goal to manage its own deliveries and speed up the process, thereby relying less on third parties like UPS and the U.S. Postal Service.

My son as I have posted works for Fed Ex at a major hub here. He is back up to 12 hour days and some times they'll ask him to come in on Sundays just to clear out the hub. He is their highest loader week over week.

He thinks I trade on inside information based on how many hours he is working or what he is shipping the most of?

I tell him shut up or I'll carve you out of the will.

One of my holdings where I am yielding over 5% is UPS.

Fed Ex is in my play money account. And so was Chewy.
